# Is this budget monthly or annual?

It depends on how the budget is **configured by the brand**.
Each budget has a **start date and an end date**, which define how long it is valid.

### How budget duration works

Budgets are not always monthly or annual by default.
A budget can be:
* monthly
* quarterly
* annual
* or valid for a custom period
The duration is defined when the budget is created.

### How to check your budget period

1. Go to **My Budget**
2. Select a **brand**
3. Check the **start date and end date** shown for each budget
You can only use a budget **within its active date range**.

### Important to know

* Budget periods are **brand-specific**
* You cannot use budget before its start date or after its end date
* Unused budget may expire at the end of the period
* Channel Partners cannot change budget dates

### What to do if you’re unsure

If you’re not sure how long a budget is valid:
* Check the dates in **My Budget**
* Contact your **brand or distributor representative** for clarification
